The house of the leader of a district council in the west of Al- Anbar province was blown up and destroyed by a number of explosive devices in its vicinity, and a number of nearby houses were damaged as well, but no one was hurt.
In separate incidents, two houses in the north of Hillah were exposed to bombing after a number of explosive devices were placed in their vicinity, killing three people from one family and wounding a fourth, and killing one person (one of the Awakening forces) from the other family and wounding two others. A farmer was killed in an armed attack on his home in the north of Mosul. A motorcycle bomb exploded in a popular market area in the southwest of Baquba, injuring five civilians.
A group of fighters attacked a checkpoint of the Awakening forces in the North of Hillah, injuring two of its elements. An explosive device installed in the car of a senior officer (ranked “Major”) of the Interior Ministry went off in the south of Baghdad, killing him on the spot. A roadside bomb went off beneath a passing patrol of the governmental police in the southwest of Fallujah, injuring two of its elements. Another roadside bomb targeted a patrol of the government army in the east of Mosul, injuring one of its soldiers.
Kadhimiya prison detainees in the north of Baghdad launched hunger strikes to protest their ill-treatment and the brutally oppressive practices carried out against them at the hands of the government forces.
