AMSI has issued a Statement no. (1397) concerning the Briefing of the UN Envoy to Iraq at the 8606th Session of the Security Council.

Statement (1397):The UN envoy admitted the serious situation in Iraq due to the tension in the region that could make Iraq a field of conflict ,& asserted the existence of violations in prisons, unfair trials abuse of detainees and 1.6 million displaced people

The representative of the Secretary-General of UN admitted that it is not possible to be optimistic on the situation in Iraq,apologizing to the government for its inability to find solutions against partisan interests,&the rampant corruption in state institutions

The UN envoy neglected the large numbers of people who were forcibly disappeared, the burial of bodies in large numbers under the name of (unidentified),the occupation of some areas by militias, the prevent of people from returning to them to use them as prisons.

Statement (1397)AMSI followed the periodic briefing by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (Jenin Hennes) at the Security Council meeting on Wednesday (28-8-2019),which did not deviate from the previous briefings; except easing the criticism of the government.
