Monday, 19 May 2008 17:10
ImageThe Association of Muslim Scholars in Iraq (AMSI) condemned the statement published at Bahraini Gulf News Newspaper in which the writer attributed his article to His Eminence Sheikh Harith al Dari, Secretary General of AMSI.

HEYET Net – Information and Media Department of AMSI published a press statement at 18 May 2008 to be sent to the administration of newspaper of Gulf News to clear its position on such an article which is far away from the base and realities. AMSI demanded the newspaper administration to publish this statement in its pages to make corrections.

In addition, AMSI clarified that Secretary General did not meet in any Bahraini request in Amman or elsewhere.

AMSI stressed that the aforementioned attribution to the Secretary General is totally odds with the AMSI principles, determinants of national public discourse adopted by AMSI rather than what the artificial and fabric article alleges.

At the Bahraini Newspaper Gulf News in the column of journalist Hafiz al Sheikh Ali it is attributed to the readers of the newspaper that Secretary General of AMSI said His Eminence invited many Bahraini Students in Amman.

Such a meeting allegation has totally no ground at all while AMSI Information and Media Department confirmed the invalidity of this matter as well as the receipt of an interview of the Secretary General therein.

At the press statement AMSI said: “We affirm here that His Eminence Secretary General did not meet any Bahrainis requests who are in Amman or elsewhere. Meanwhile the artificial attribution to the Secretary General also contradicts to which AMSI has, and totally at odds with the determinants of national public discourse adopted by AMSI.

Everybody knows that AMSI strongly rejects all kinds of sectarianism.

We call upon the management of Gulf News which is known to its position on Ummah, its commitment to issues of verification to determine how this kind of column that is so tendentious, far away from the truths is published, thus the dissemination of this statement on its pages is allowed.

In conclusion, we ask Allah Almighty to perpetuate the blessing of safety and stability of the brotherly Bahraini people, all Arab and Muslim peoples.”
