A Brief Description of Association of Muslim Scholars in Iraq.
The Association of Muslim Scholars in Iraq (AMSI), a new and old entity at the same time, it is a new entity in terms of foundation and public appearance under the title of AMSI, and it is a old entity in terms of components ; it relies on scientists and students who cares about their religion and works for their religion tomorrow.
These elite worked together and cooperated with each other in the difficult times through which Iraq went for several decades, but they did not have the opportunity to appear publicly in the form of a foundation. Allah Almighty will was to create this entity in the most difficult time in the modern history of Iraq, the time in which the tragic fall of Baghdad was, the fall in the hands of the (Anglo-Saxon) invasion and in the hands of occupation of Iraq in the beginning of the twenty-first century AD.
The founding process was unique because it was related with the painful history, as the occupation forces torn Baghdad into pieces and prevented its people from their everyday journey between (Karkh) and (Rusafa), so people of Karkh went to their scientists, and people of Rusafa went to their Imams and Sheikhs. that resulted in the founding of two separate entity at the same time, these two entities are (Association of legislation scientists) in the Karkh side which were founded by some legislation scientists and students, the other was (The Society of Muslim Scholars) on the Rusafa side which were founded by mosques imams and students of science.
At the first opportunity for crossing the Euphrates of Baghdad the two groups met in the Aezemih (The greatest imam ) Abi-Hanifa al-Numan to unit their efforts and stand together to serve this country and its religion. they agreed to form one entity and name it (Association of Muslim Scholars in Iraq) as a first Islamic foundation declares its appearance after the occupation of Iraq, then several returnees scientists joined the Association (AMSI) with others form Iraqi League who responded to AMSI call and decided to return to their homeland. The First fifteen members formed the Foundational Council which job was to solve some of problems caused by the occupation and decide the primitive system of the Association to complete its tasks, According to this system several commissions concerned with the political, cultural, information, social and economic as well as the Council of muftis were formed.
After a while the Association expanded and Comprised many members numbered now about (2000) active member working according to a structural body consists of the following:
1)General secretariat for the Association consist of thirteen members, chaired by the secretary-general and his deputy, with two scientific and public assistance. 2)Shura Council, composed of (50) members. 3)General Assembly includes all staff members. 4)Several thousand Patronizes members.
The Association seeks to achieve the following objectives : 1)Representing the reference legitimate for Muslims in Iraq in various aspects of life. 2)Work on the liberation of Iraq from the occupation using all possible and legitimate ways, and Stand in front of all forces who wants to split out country from its historical and cultural identity. 3) Spreading the spirit of brotherhood and tolerance among the Iraqi people who differs in their religious ethnic and sectarian Affiliation. 4) Looking after the Islamic calling and raise the level of forensic science in all possible ways and means.
The Association has a significant activity in the political side as the contribution of AMSI in the National Iraqi Founding Conference, which included all forces who reject the occupation. The Association consist of (18) branch in the provinces, districts and respects of the country, it also issue a weekly newspaper named (al-Basaer) with a (10) thousand copies, which forms the voice of the body, and issues a number of local bulletin. the Association branch in Baghdad-Rusafa issues the (al-Mnbar) newspaper, on the other hand the branch of Association in Fallujah issues the (Manaber) bulletin, The Association of Muslim Scholars issues a number of public and press statements which has been numbered until this hour with a (362) Statement.
