The Association of Muslim Scholars in Iraq (HEYET) called for the formation of an independent international commission of inquiry to uncover the dimensions of brutal crimes taking place in Iraq in light of the continuous brutal occupation and to bring the perpetrators to a fair justice fair. The demand came in a statement published after discovery of mass graves in northern Fallujah of Anbar Province which included more than 400 bodies killed by the American occupation forces during the second Fallujah attack.

HEYET told that discovery of this crime confirms the continuation of heinous massacres that are still affecting Iraqis. In a series of genocidal war blatant occupation forces perpetrated many crimes along with its collaborators spreading terror and fear among Iraqis who rejected their colonial plans. They also tried to prevent Iraqis for demanding their legitimate, legal and humanitarian rights for attainment of freedom and independence.

At the end of statement, HEYET invited international community to break its silence on the atrocities committed by the US occupation forces and government forces; working hard and fast to uncover what really goes on in Iraq from the brutal crimes and flagrant violations affected hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis.
