Prof. Dr. Harith al Dhari, Secretary General of the Association of Muslim Scholars in Iraq (HEYET) presented an open letter to addressing the Arab leaders about forthcoming summit of the Arab League to be organized in Baghdad.

In his letter, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Dhari told that to take part in the Arab League summit in Baghdad means to cover committed crimes, corruption and policy of current government. He said that it also means to give legitimacy to the current government while confirming its policies carried out in Iraq.

HEYET Secretary General also pointed out reports on human rights violations in Iraq prepared by local and international prominent organizations as well as administrative and financial corruption, social injustices and differences among social fabric of the country. Dr. Dhari stressed that government security forces still continue to use violent sectarian attacks against Iraqis, torturing, violating and unjust execution.

At the end of his letter, Secretary General of HEYET stated that: “We remind of Arab leaders about Iraq as we had previously mentioned on the Arab League Summit. Iraq has a rooted Arab and Muslim position. This is very clear since the history. Iraqi people are a part of you. It is your responsibility to be with them. Therefore it is obligation to be seriously working to get Iraq out of its crisis and problems.”

He reiterated that they as trusted guardians will continue to protect their brothers who are facing with tyranny and injustices no matter how conjecture and situation changes.
