Republican May Back Iraq Withdrawal Print E-mail
Monday, 27 August 2007 15:57
ImageA senior Republican senator has said he may support rival Democratic legislation ordering the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq.

John Warner, a senate armed services committee member, said on Sunday he was ready to side with Democrats on the issue if George Bush, the US president, continues to refuse to set a timetable for the return of troops.

Warner, a former navy secretary, said: "I'm going to have to evaluate it.

"I don't say that as a threat, but I say that is an option we all have to consider."
