One government guard soldier and another civilian were killed in an attack to a checkpoint in al Ghazaliyah.

HEYET Net Special - A government soldier and another person was killed near a checkpoint guard in Al Ghazaliyah this afternoon. Then the government troops started arrests indiscriminately in the region.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that shooting injured one soldier from government guards and another one who was said belonging to so-called Sahwa (Awakening) Council this afternoon on Wednesday, 20 August 2008.  

The government guard troops cut the roads leading to al Ghazaliyah from all sides and had launched a campaign of arrests that have affected many young people living in the area under the pretext of pursuing gunmen who fled after the attack.

These forces also closed the main market in the district (al Nafla Market), which is the most important market in the district and prevented citizens from shopping. The area is witnessing the situation of tension because of these events.
