MP Haneen al-Qaddo has revealed that over 80 persons of Shabak community in Mosul city were killed in 2008 so far, despite launching a security campaign in Nineveh province since last May 10.

He said "Only within the last couple of days, two Shabaks from Ali Rash village were killed in Mosul; one of them was killed in Garaj al-Shamal area, which has become since last year a focus for terrorists in Mosul city."

"There have been many demands to set check points in that area, which is only six square kilometers, but our demands were in vain; so we consider Nineveh provincial and military authorities responsible for the evident failure in protecting Shabak and Christians minorities of Mosul," Qaddo cited.
