Iraq, Iran agree to exchange remains of war victims Print E-mail

The governments of Iraq and Iran agreed to exchange the remains of soldiers killed during the 1980-1988 Iraq-Iran war. The exchange process is to begin as from the 15th of November.


Spokesman for the Iraqi government, Ali Dabbagh said in a statement issued on Friday, October 31, "Iraqi government, through the Ministry of Human Right, agreed with the government of Islamic Republic of Iran to exchange the remains of soldiers killed during the Iraq-Iran war."

He added, "A preliminary date of 15 November was set to receive the remains of 200 killed Iraqi soldiers against the remains of 41 killed Iranian soldiers to be exchanged at a border point."
