An improvished explosive device went off targeting a mechanism of the U.S. occupation forces on the main road in the city of Kirkuk, north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad..

Witnesses said: "An improvised explosive device attack targeted a convoy of American occupation forces where a minesweeper was leading. Then IED exploded and fully destroyed minesweeper as well as killling and wounding the soldiers inside it. Aircraft ambulances rushed to scene for evacuation of occupation soldiers."

On the other hand, the occupation forces cut off the road for several hours until they were collecting parts of the crashed vehicle to pull in after that.
