Iraqi Resistance targeted American occupation convoy in al Mahawil area of northern Hille with an IED on Sunday. Government sources confirmed the attack saying: "al Khamisiyah area of al Mahawil in 30 km north of Hille, an improvished explosive device went off during the passing of American convoy wheels."

Following the explosion the area was closed by the occupation forces for hours while losses among enemy forces are not known.
