A bomb exploded targeting an armored wheel of U.S. occupation forces in an area at the road linking Samarra to Tikrit City in Salahaddin province.  Witnesses said that "the attack targeted a troop carrier of the type ZIL and has led to the destruction of it killing and injuring its crew."

The witnesses added that "American occupation forces rushed to cut the road for several hours while helicopters were seen hovering around the area of the attack in search of the perpetrators. Air ambulances also arrived at the scene for evacuation."
