AMSI Holds Press Conference at the end of Assembly Print E-mail

Monday evening, 28 July 2008 the Association of Muslim Scholars in Iraq (AMSI) held a press conference following the end of its Fifth General Conference held in the Syrian capital Damascus from 25-27 July in 2008.  


 

HEYET Net Damascus Office – Dr Sheikh Mohammed Bashar al Faydi member of the Secretariat of AMSI, who was re-appointed as spokesperson for a new term, Sheikh Yahya Al-Taee member of the Secretariat and Mr Amer Aqidi Shura Council member and Director of the Damascus Office have conducted the press conference.

Sheikh al Faydi began the press conference by reading the final statement of the Fifth General Assembly, which stipulated a number of decisions concerning political affairs, whose AMSI confirmed its firm position of rejection of occupation, the resulting from the discharge, the consequent effects of the political process and division projects, the Constitution, the political, security, military and economic conventions, the he current and future cultural conventions and others that are detriment of Iraq's sovereignty, its identity, security and wealth...

AMSI considered such a step at the opening of the assembly with the participation of national forces opposed to the occupation that fell under the title of the General Assembly “No to the occupation…No to the division of the Submission and Surrender Conventions”. the support by these forces in their quest for political liberation of Iraq was and indication of the aforementioned matters as well as confirmation that the resistance is still only guarantor option to end the occupation and the elimination of its effects, to re-turn freedom, security and prosperity to Iraq and its people.

The final statement stressed on several matters related to the internal affairs of AMSI which represents the adoption of amendments to the rules of procedure of the AMSI... And holding the third session of the AMSI included the election: members of the Secretariat, Secretary General, his deputy, his aides and official spokesman... As well as the ratification of the reports of the activities of the departments, branches and offices at home and abroad... And issuing administrative decisions concerning the sections, branches and offices.

The statement touched on a number of recommendations which urged the Iraqi people to unify the words and the ranks, supporting the resistance project, and resistance in all its forms, and the means available; not to miss the opportunity to those who want evil for them and their country's... The call to support the anti-occupation forces, which are not guilty of blood, and stealing its resources, it did not keep his enemies, and reaching the desired goal in a bright future for Iraq.

The press conference called on Arab countries and the whole world to support the forces opposed to the occupation which has taken the sponsor project of the exit of Iraq from the current crisis. It also called at the same time to provide political support and relief for the people of Iraq who are in urgent need especially in these difficult circumstances facing inside and outside of Iraq... As well as directing the call to the Muslim scholars to attention for the Iraqi issue, and play their Islamic role to support their brothers in Iraq in various fields.
