|HEYET Report:1726 Arrests in December|

Human Rights Department of the Association of Muslim Scholars in Iraq (HEYET) published its monthly report on violations where it showed that government security forces perpetrated 220 campaigns resulting in arrest of 1726 innocent civilians including dozens of women. According to the HEYET department, attacks were carried out in 14 provinces.
December 2011 Report clarified that statistics of attacks and arrests are solely depend on official announcement of current defense and interior ministries. Arrests and violations perpetrated by so-called national security ministry, anti-terror units, awakening council, Kurdish peshmerga forces and other militias are not included in the report due to verification problems. However aforementioned militia groups are also committing mass human rights abuses and violations.
