The Association of Muslim Scholars in Iraq (AMSI) Information and Press Department issued a press release about the insistency of the president of the Sunni Awqaf Department on the occupation of Radio Umm al Qura.
AMSI said in the press release that the person who does this act is under the legitimate responsibility which means clear and explicit usurpation.
Press Release At the fifth anniversary of its foundation, the Association of Muslim Scholars in Iraq (AMSI) is proud of increasing its honor in the cause of Allah Almighty. However, what the president of the Sunni Awqaf Department made at 10 April 2008 is a way of insistently carrying out the occupation of Radio Umm al Qura, sending out the radio administration and other equipments. He also confiscated the offices and rooms for working which are the rooms of Radio General Manager, staff and kitchen. The members of the Sunni Awqaf Foundation began to transfer transmitters belonging to the use of the building for the purpose of broadcasting. This assault comes on the sanctity of public money and serious violation under the constant pressure on the Association of Muslim Scholars in Iraq (AMSI) to prevent it from its continues leading role in Iraq. After the occupation of Umm al Qura Mosque, the General Headquarters of AMSI and silencing the voice of the Radio Umm al Qura many Iraqis were deprived of activities and programds. This occupation comes to invalidate previous allegations that the reason of the seizure was the return of the mosques ownership to the Sunni Awqaf Department. Here is the building of the radio which was founded by the charitable and generous Muslims in the service of the Iraqis. Usurpation without regarding to any legitimacy, legality or judiciary means that who is behind this act is clearly and explicitly under the responsibility. In addition it also made it easy to attain at the level of legal claim.
